music to my ears lonely day/phantom planet

the last days of intramurals. and then it's back to schoolwork again. i've got four days to finish my assessments. but right now, i couldn't care less about the assignments. we just bagged first place in soccer! yeeeehaaa! i strongly believe that we won because my mates were willing to give it all to win - not because two ex-varsity players are part of the team. we actually handled the sport well. just like a REAL soccer team. we know how to make passes and make fakes and kicking the ball away from the goal. we had an unambiguous play. we were a team.

the first two games were nonsense. umabot pa kami sa penalty kasi 0-0. third game - winner by default. the last and championship game we had against 3-gonzales felt like a real game and not just intramurals. im not braggin, but i scored during the first two minutes of the game (which made us all glorious) - with my LEFT foot. fyi, i kick and dribble and control the ball with my right foot. and i never practice kicking with my left. the adrenaline rush i felt when i was dribbling the ball towards the goal was simply the reason why i had learned to kick with my left foot. and not only that, it was an airball. a goal. my left foot... now every single thing about soccer made sense.

it wasn't about the airballs that you've been practicing ahead of time that makes you a good kicker. it's the passion. raging inside me when i played soccer this afternoon was my passion to win. to play. to prove to myself that i can do this.

i had to play with passion to play soccer completely. just like life. yes, just like it.

a lot of people often tell me, "yam, itim mo na." they might think that i've exposed my skin too much under the sun, but i think i paid enough for the whistle, which in this case was the title. the next time they tell me those lines, all i have to say is "sige lang, champion man."
